Temple of Tyche Inaugurated in Side

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Antalya Governorship, Historic Cities Association (MOA), Anadolu University, and the Municipality of Side restoration of Temple of Tyche was finished in one year, and was opened with a ceremony.

Temple of Tyche
Temple of Tyche is a round building in Agora. It is erected in the name of the Goddess Fortuna in AD 2 century.

Side Ancient Theatre

Tyche (Fortuna) was the goddess of fortune and personification of luck in Roman religion. She might bring good luck or bad: she could be represented as veiled and blind, as in modern depictions of Justice, and came to represent life's capriciousness. She was also a goddess of fate: as Atrox Fortuna, she claimed the young lives of the princeps Augustus' grandsons Gaius and Lucius, prospective heirs to the Empire.

Side
When you visit Side, we strongly advice that you should see the Temple of Apollon, Temple of Tyche, Ancient Theatre, and the Museum of Side.

Where is Side?

Side is an ancient city in the region of Pamphylia, in what is now Antalya province, on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. It is now a resort town and one of the best-known classical sites in Turkey, near Manavgat in the province of Antalya. It is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, which lies about 20 km east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River (Köprüçay). Today, as in antiquity, the ancient city is situated on a small north-south peninsula about 1 km long and 400 m across.

Side Apollon Temple
Today, Side has become a popular holiday destination and experiences a new revival. Side offers visitors a great choice of accommodation, as well as traditional shopping, bars and restaurants, and plenty of things to see and do.
