Antalya is the 6th largest city in Turkey



Population of localities are determined by taking into account the population obtained from the Address Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), which was established in 2007 and is updated by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs (GDPCA), and the population living in institutional places. Persons who live in institutional places (military barracks, prisons, nursing homes, university dormitories, etc.) are included in the population of localities where the institutional places are founded according to the international definitions.

In addition, population of provinces, districts, municipalities, villages and quarters are determined by taking into account administrative attachment, legal entity and name changes recorded by the GDPCA in the National Address Database in accordance with the related regulation and administrative registers.

With this press release, the results of 2011 referring to December 31, 2011 on the basis of information taken from the GDPCA are presented.

The population of Turkey is 74.724.269 on December 31, 2011.

The population of Antalya City is 2.043.482 on December 31, 2011 where is the sixth largest city in Turkey.

  4. Bursa  (2.652.126 persons)
