Since 28 May 2013, there are protests in Turkey by the people, , dubbed the Turkish Spring and the Summer Snowball by some media.
The initial protests in Istanbul were led by about 50 environmentalists, opposing the replacement of Taksim Gezi Park with a reconstruction of the historic Taksim Military Barracks (demolished in 1940) possibly housing a shopping mall.
Through Twitter and Facebook, the protests spread to 48 cities in Turkey. Antalya is one of these cities, but violent protests never happened and did not occur in any danger in Antalya! Even the police handed out flowers to the public.
People just went to the Republic Square of Antalya, and used their constitutional rights and they protested for Gezi Park, peacefully.
Antalya broke records in tourism in 2011 and 2012. Antalya was the world's fourth most visited city by number of international arrivals in 2011 and 2012, with 10.5 million annual visitors.
Tourists still keep coming to Antalya, and these protests will never affect them.
Last week, we visited some hotels in Antalya and Belek region, and we saw that tourists swam in sparkling seas, visited impressive archaeological ruins, ate very well in friendly Turkish restaurants.
Admittedly, none of this would usually be headline news. But given protests news from Turkey, it may come as a surprise to learn that this summer you can still have a typical, enjoyable Turkish holiday.
Other holiday resorts in Turkey would be also ok! Turkey is still one of the safest countries in the world to visit and the crime rate is low when compared to many Western European countries. Interpol ranks Turkey as the safest holiday destination in Europe for travelers. Large visitors will find Turks to be friendly and helpful.
A very nice content along with very good information and it is very useful and helpful. Thanks for sharing
