The Offices of the Ministry for EU Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened in Antalya


The official offices of the Ministry for EU Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey opened in Antalya.


The opening of Antalya Office of the Ministry for EU Affairs inaugurated in Antalya on 21 December with the participation of Volkan Bozkır, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator. The inauguration ceremony will be held at the new office building of Antalya Governorate at 12:00 pm.
Antalya Office, will serve to ensure harmonisation with the EU acquis at local level, and be guide for the right and effective implementation of the legislation, and for the preparation of projects that can evaluate the historical, cultural and geographical wealth of Antalya in terms of the EU accession perspective, and to benefit from the opportunities the EU accession process provides at local level.

Antalya is a trademark for Turkish tourism and is also becoming a trademark for the effective and successful utilisation of the EU financial assistance. Within this scope, nearly 43 billion Euros has been allocated to 767 projects that were held in Antalya between 2012-2014.



Antalya Office will be located within the new office building of the Antalya Governorate, and will work in close cooperation with the non-governmental organisations, municipalities and public institutions in all the local activities on the EU, including the efficient utilisation of the EU financial assistance.


Antalya to host G20 summit in 2015


In 2015, G20 leaders' summit will be held in Antalya, Turkey. 


The summit will be held in Antalya on November 15-16, 2015. Global economy, strengthened growth and job creation will be taken up at the summit in Turkey. The 2015 G-20 Turkey summit will be the tenth meeting of the G-20 heads of government. Turkey will assume the presidency of the G-20 in 2015.

What is G20?
The Group of Twenty (also known as the G-20 or G20) is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies. The members, shown highlighted on the map at right, include 19 individual countries: ArgentinaAustraliaBrazilCanadaChinaFranceGermanyIndiaIndonesiaItalyJapanMexicoRussiaSaudi ArabiaSouth AfricaSouth KoreaTurkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—along with the European Union (EU). 


The G-20 was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability. It seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization. Collectively, the G-20 economies account for around 85% of the gross world product (GWP), 80% of world trade (or, if excluding EU intra-trade, 75%), and two-thirds of the world population. The G-20 heads of government or heads of state have periodically conferred at summits since their initial meeting in 2008.




Antalya will also host EXPO 2016.
