Efes Pilsen Blues Festival - Antalya

The 2nd Antalya Women's Summit will be the common voice of the women again

Violence shapes gender relations in multiple ways. Killings carried out in the name of honor are one of the most visible and lethal forms of gender based violence. In its less visible, more subtle forms, gender-based violence threatens the physical and emotional integrity of millions of women living in Turkey, and billions globally. Domestic violence especially that carried out by husbands comprises a “constitutive dimension” of women’s life. 

We, the people of the Republic of Turkey feel proud of our glorious history. We say that Turkish women are granted the right to vote since 1934. In addition to this, in 1926, the new Turkish civil code passed. Under the new code, women gained equality with men in such matters as inheritance and divorce. Moreover, in 1935, 18 women deputies had chairs in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. As a percentage, they accounted for 4.5% of all the seats in the Assembly, one of the highest proportions in the world at that time. 

Despite some advancements made by women in today’s society they are still affected by some challenges. Turkey is an interesting example, from the aspect of the position of women, because it is a country which is influenced by all the contradictions of globalization and traditions.

For this purpose, the 2nd Women's Summit will be held on Saturday, November 3 in AKM.

Women from different walks of life will  participate the Summit as a speaker. The theme of the summit is "The politicsvwhich focuses on women's body, and women's reproductive rights". 

 'Women Friendly City in Antalya "Why Increasing Violence Against Women in Turkey? What should be done? "Questions in order to seek solutions to the Antalya Women's Summit held last year by  the Department of Press and Public Relations of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. Writers, intellectuals, politicians, and at the end of the summit, with the participation of scientists published the manifesto of results on the solutions to stop violence against women and women's demands were identified.

For advocating gender equality in society the 2nd Antalya Women's Summit will be held on Saturday, November 3 at 09:00 a.m. in the Antalya Cultural Center (AKM) Aspendos Hall. At the end of the summit, common accord "Final Declaration" will be created and it will be the collective voice of women.

Over 160 thousand people walked up to the Republic Day in Antalya

Turkish Republic marked its 89th anniversary on October 29. More than 160 thousand people participated in Lantern Procession and the Republic March in Antalya. 

At 18.30,the torchlight procession began at the world-famous Konyaalti Seashsore and reached to the Republic Square of Antalya. 

The other celebration was organized by the Municipality of Muratpaşa and 20 thousand people attended. 

In addition, Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in all the districts of Antalya.

Turkish Republic marks its 89th anniversary on October 29. 

On 29 October 1923, Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK declared that Turkey would be a republic and renamed it as the Republic of Turkey. 

Turkey had effectively been a republic from April 23rd, 1920 (the establishment of Grand National Assembly of Turkey) but official recognition of this came only 3 years later. On 29 October 1923, the new name of the nation and its status as a republic was declared. After that, a vote occurred in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Ataturk was selected as the 1st president of the Republic of Turkey.

Today, we are celebrating one of the foundation stones of modern Turkey: The 89th Anniversary of the Republic Day.

“It was an incredible up and down today, just like it’s been with the whole project. First we got off with a beautiful launch and then we had a bit of drama with a power supply issue to my visor.” Felix Baumgartner describes his record breaking jump from the stratosphere.

Felix Baumgartner earned his place in the history books on Sunday after overcoming concerns with the power for his visor heater that impaired his vision and nearly jeopardized the mission. Felix reached an estimated speed of *833.9 mph / 1,342.8 km/h (Mach 1.24). This preliminary figure would make him the first man to break the speed of sound in freefall and set more records* while delivering valuable data for space exploration.

After reaching an altitude of 128,100 feet (39,045 meters) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket powered airplane. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

The First International Olympos Marathon

Olympos Marathon is an enjoyable individual test which starts from Olympus antique city and the foot of Mount Olymp0s and passes through a magnificent Nature and historical landscape and ends in Kemer. The total length of the race course is 42 km 195 mt. and it starts from inside of Olymp0s antique city and continues sometimes from within nature and sometimes through highway and ends in the centre of Kemer. Throughout the marathon; contestants will run on a 6000 mt. pathway, 1000 mt. coast (sand), 14.000 mt. asphalt and 21,195 mt. paved road in total.

Participation is free-of-charge and is open to everyone, local and foreign who certifies that his/her health conditions are suitable.

Red Bull Sea To Sky 2012

Red Bull Sea to Sky is the most enjoyable Extreme Enduro Event. It will be held in October 20 & 21, 2012 in Kemer in Antalya in Turkey.

The event consists of a “beach race” right in front of the hotels at Kemer Beach to determine the starting order for the “forest time trial race” which starts after a short break after the beach race.

The “forest time trial race“ determines the starting row for the “Olympus mountain race” on Sunday 21th October.

Fuel and drinking water on the track are provided by the organizers.

Several emergency medical aid team offers its services for each participant during the whole event.
