General Secretariat of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) moved to Antalya.

As a result of the general assembly's voting in the 64th General Meeting of the AIPH which was held between 9-13 September 2012 in the city of Venlo of the Netherlands, the General Secretary became Anıl Yılmaz who is the Expo 2016 Antalya Office Coordinator, and  Chairman of the Central Anatolian Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters Union, Osman Bağdatlıoğlu, is selected as the Member of the Executive Board.

The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) is an international organisation dedicated to promoting horticultural producers and held the international garden / flora festivals or expositions worldwide. The organisation was formed in 1948 in Switzerland for the international marketing purposes and now supports breeders' rights, the environment and international exhibitions. It is very important that the General Secretariat of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) moving to Antalya when we consider the EXPO 2016 will be held in Antalya.

The 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup matches will be played also in Antalya

In exactly one year, the 19th FIFA U-20 World Cup will kick-off in Turkey. It will be the largest international football tournament ever played in the country, spanning seven cities, across 23 days, with 24 teams playing 52 matches. 

The cities of Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kayseri, Rize and Trabzon will host The 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. 

The FIFA U-20 World Cup is not only FIFA's second oldest competition, it is also second in terms of the quality of play. This tournament introduced the world to players like Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Bebeto, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Michael Owen and so many others. Antalya will host the World Amateur Golf Championships

World Amateur Golf Championships 2012 to take place in Antalya. 

Female golfers will compete in Antalya between September 27 and 30 while male golfers would compete between October 4 and 7.

Around 420 golfers are expected to participate in the Championships to be hosted by the Turkish Golf Federation. 

Some of the reasons for Turkey's selection as the country to host this important organization, among many others, are as follows; Turkey's experience in hosting international sports events, the fact that golf is the most rapidly developing sports branch, the increasing number of perfectly-designed golf courses, the selection of Turkey as the most rapidly developing golf country in Europe and our treasures of young population, cultural heritage and natural assets.

Giants of basketball will meet at “Rixos Cup” in Antalya

The 5th International Rixos Cup Basketball Tournament will be held at Antalya Atatürk Sports Gymnasium between 12-16 September, with the sponsorship of Rixos Hotels. 

The tournament, which will be broadcasted live on NTV Sports, will host Anadolu Efes, Galatasaray, Banvit and Beşiktaş from Turkey,  Unics Kazan from Russia and Cibona Zagrep from Croatia.

Doğan Hakyemez, who is the doyen of Turkish basketball, is the head consultant of the tournament. Hakyemez, underlined the fact that extremely exciting games will take place for the basketball fans since all the teams are powerful and well worth watching.

     Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Elvis chi Nwosu. I'm a Norwegian with Nigerian and American roots, a former trade union leader, a Labour Party politician and member of Oslo City Council. I am also civil servant with the Oslo Municipality. I'm also the leader of African Cultural Awareness (www.yitv.no). African Cultural Awareness is an organization that works with different issues to promote the interest of the African community in Norway. We work with different administrative and resilience enhancing projects, civil liberty and the defense of human rights. We also respond to most negative and derogatory coverage of the African community in the Norwegian mass media through active participation. The digital revolution provides a lot of opportunities for youths to use this medium in telling their own story through audiovisual expressions.

What is the meaning of Antalya for you? 

Antalya for me is a mixture of Mediterranean equisetic blend of a rich culture that is old but has continued to be influence by years of visitors and internal migration. Antalya, especially the old city of Kaleiçi had a lot of warmness and hospitality combined with good service and respect for visitors like me.  A combination of sunshine and the beach and culture and modern shopping malls.

What is your favorite activity in Antalya? 

Enjoying the atmosphere of the Old city of Kaleiçi and then taking a walk to the beach for a swim and a cold Efes. The evening is always a treat with local bands and good food to eat.

Do you have a memorable moment ever in Antalya? 

I do have lots of memorable moments meeting with locals, and carpets sellers, I even now feel a kind of a “Turkish carpet expert” , I do cherish the romantic  walks. I had with my wife along the clean parks of Antalya.

I want the City Council of Antalya and the Hon. Mayor Prof. Dr. Mustafa to make Kaleiçi - the old city a car fee zone.
